Mary Elenor Pifer May 18, 1922 - February 28, 2012 Mary Elenor Lazenby was born in Arlington, Ohio on May 18,1922. She was the daughter of the late Glen Lazenby and the late Fairy (Hindall) Lazenby. As a young child the family moved to Monroe. Mary married her true love Raymond Pifer on August 25, 1945. She became a homemaker and from this union came the birth of seven children. Mary and Raymond had a special relationship. Each evening between 6:00pm and 7:00pm the couple would go for a drive in the family car, but they always returned in time to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Mary was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She loved to dance the polka at all of the festivals, go bowling, play cards, watch love stories, and never missed the Grand Ole Opry. Mary was a member of TOPS. As a mother, Mary was kind and very protective of her children. As a grandmother she would sugar up her grandchildren with chocolate chip cookies and Coke and then send them home. Mary Elenor Pifer age 89 of Monroe passed away at 1:27pm,Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her mother on January 4, 1984and her father on January 22, 1989 her passing was preceded by her husband Raymond on October 31, 1992; a son: Mark Pifer on June 21, 2011; and two daughters-in-law: Diane on September 7, 2003 and Sandra on September 2, 2011. To cherish her memory she leaves six children: Pamela (Roy) Boylan of Elmhurst, Illinois, Patrick (Barb) Pifer of LaSalle, Prudence (Paul) Fairchild of Monroe, Michael Pifer of Monroe, Matthew (Elizabeth) Pifer of Monroe, and Holly (Jammie)Francisco of Monroe; thirteen grandchildren: Chad (Mari), Liam, Polly(Jim), Phillip (Traci), Kristen (Brandon),Kevin, Kamela (Brian), Shannon, Adrienne, Bethany, Hannah, Logan, and McKenzie; and six great grandchildren: Noah, Nolan, Ethan, Kennedy, Benson, and Isla. Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, March3, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185where a Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am, Saturday, March 3,2012. The Rev. Mark Witte Associate Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Memorials are suggested to the Altar Guild at Grace Lutheran Church.
