Obituary of Dolores Ann Cox

Dolores Ann Finger was born June 12, 1931 in Mentor, Tennessee. She was one of eight children born from the union of the late Ernest Finger and the late Gladys (Wright) Finger. Dolores married the love of her life, John Henry Cox on March 15, 1947 in Tennessee. In addition to caring for her husband, Dolores supported her family at home and cared for their three beautiful children. She enjoyed eating out, playing bingo, traveling and sailing the seas on the cruise lines. As a talented cook and baker she elated in preparing meals and desserts for friends, family and all those in need. Her points of interest and current events came from watching the news, in which she could not wait to share with her daughter. Dolores was a lifetime member of the Brest Bay Sportsman Club Woman’s Auxillary in Newport; and as a woman with good taste, she delighted in shopping for the finer things in life. Dolores Ann Cox, age 85, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Wellspring Lutheran Services. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband of sixty-seven years, John; two sons: Jody and Chris Cox; and two sisters: Betty Tucker and Patricia “Kitty” Roberts. To cherish her memory she leaves, a daughter: Beth (Magdy) Elpayaa of Forest Park, Illinois; four sisters: Shirley Ogle, Norma Peeler, Carol Black, and Glenda Evans all of Tennessee; one brother: William Finger of Tennessee; five grandchildren: Stephanie Cox of Monroe, Tracie (Barb) Cox of Newport, Adam Elpayaa of Bloomington, Illinois, Joseph Elpayaa and Sarah Elpayaa of Forest Park Illinois; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Aariel and Aarika; one great-great grandchildren: Jovan; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 6:30pm on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:30pm also at Merkle’s. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 13200 South Dixie Highway in LaSalle.
