Obituary of David Neil Cox
David Neil Cox was born on March 8, 1954 in Monroe, Michigan, the only son born to Samuel and Ann (Sheckles) Cox. He was a member of the 1973 graduating class of Monroe High School, where he earned his varsity letter in football. Dave went on to marry Jeannette Warner on May 12, 1973, and had two children.
From 1983-1988, the Cox family lived in Kissimmee, Florida. In Monroe, Dave was previously employed by Monroe Steel Castings, Antenna Tech, D & S Benore Trucking, and Transfreight.
Dave loved going for rides on his Harley Davidson, watching his granddaughters’ sporting events, tending his garden, grilling on the BBQ, and going to casinos with his wife and friends. Dave enjoyed his family and was a playful, generous father and loving “Gaga” to his grandkids. He always had a smile on his face, and will be remembered for his quick wit, fun-loving nature, and mischievous sense of humor.
Dave passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2016 with his devoted wife and children at his side. His passing was preceded by his parents, grandparents, father-in-law: Thomas Warner; and mother-in-law: Jo Warner.
To cherish his memory, Dave leaves Jeannette, his loving wife of forty-three years; a son: David (Brandie) Cox, Jr.; a daughter: Danielle (Brett) Slack; three granddaughters: Rachael Cox, Lauren Cox, and Bailey Slack; two sisters: Donna (Dave) Bloss and Cookie (Frank) Hines; his brother in-law: Tom (Debbie) Warner, sisters-in-law: Lynnda (John) Brown and Liz (Terry) Lott, brother-in-law: Ed (Christi) Warner; cousin Mack (Rhonda) Johnson; and several loved nieces and nephews.
