Obituary of Patricia Thorn

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Kim Thorn, age 43, of Newport passed away peacefully yet unexpectedly on Sunday evening at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. Patricia was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 28, 1964 from the union of the late Floyd Thorn and Sharon (Kaiser) Thorn. Patricia attended Jefferson Schools and graduated with the Class of 1982. Patricia enjoyed working with her hands, and she was not afraid of hard work. For many years Patricia worked as a laborer in the Construction industry until she took a medical retirement several years ago. Patricia was also a very talented artist, and she spent many hours drawing. Her family will cherish the countless pieces she has left forever. Since she enjoyed working with her hands; gardening came very natural. She was always an asset when working in the dirt, and her yard was a tribute to her countless hours of devotion. Patricia had a special love for her family and friends, and she always looked forward to the opportunity of sharing time and memories with them. She leaves to cherish her memory, two beloved sons: Cody Thorn and John Thorn both of Monroe; her devoted mother and stepfather: Sharon Thorn and Ronnie Liford of Newport; her paternal grandmother: Mary Ann Thorn of Naples, Florida; brother: Kelly and sister-in law Rainy Thorn of Brownstown Twp; brother: Terry Thorn and Jill of Maybee; an aunt: Florence Haws of Naples, Florida; and a best friend of more than thirty years: Billie Jo Porter of Monroe. Her passing was preceded by her father: Floyd Thorn on August 25 of 2007. Private family services will take place. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services, Livonia. Her cremains will be scattered at a later date in Northern Michigan. Her arrangements were entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185. Online words of inspiration and comfort may be forwarded to the family through the Merkle website at www.merklefuneralservice.com; and then selecting the Life Stories page.
