Obituary of Edward Smith

Edward Thomas Smith, "Tom" or "Smitty" passed away peacefully on November 10, 2008 at Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born January 26, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Norman and Henrietta Smith. Both parents preceded him in death. He attended Norwood High School in Norwood, Ohio. Tom proudly served in the Marine Corp from 1954 to 1957. Returning from the military, he relocated to Toledo, Ohio and married Diane Eaton. He was an all around nice guy, but he was most proud of his children. Tom was a proud marine; ready anytime with a "Semper Fe". He was an avid NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhardt fan. Tom was preceded in death by a son: Michael John Smith and is survived by sons: Thomas James Smith and Brian Charles (Amy) Smith, daughter: Michelle Ann Smith, grandchildren: Brook and Ean. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Henry Lawrence Smith. He is survived by brothers: Roger (Donna) Smith, Edgar (Susan) Smith and Lawrence Smith, sister: Norma Wood and Linda (Dan) Rutledge. Cremation rites will be in accordance to his wishes. A Celebration of his Life and Memorial Service will be at 10:00am Friday, December 5, 2008, at St. Clements Church on Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, OH.
