Juan Jacinto Calderas was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 25, 1976. He was the son of Juan Jose Calderas and Maria (Vega) Calderas. The family moved to the Monroe area in the late 1980's. Juan graduated from Monroe High School in 1996. He married the love of his life the former Susan Gacioch on June 5, 1998 in Monroe, Michigan. Juan was an amazing person. He was well loved by his family and he was an excellent husband, son and brother. Juan had a heart of gold and he could always see the good in others. He was reliable since he was always there when needed. Juan had a great sense of humor and he liked to joke around with others, and he enjoyed making others laugh. He enjoyed fishing, eating, and sitting around the bonfire. He always saw the good in others Juan served his community honorably as a member of the London-Maybee-Raisinville Fire Department. He had been a firefighter for the past four years fulfilling a lifelong dream. Juan was extremely proud of what he was doing and joked about the lights, the sirens, and the adrenaline. Juan especially enjoyed giving the probationary firefighters a hard time. Juan Jacinto Calderas age 34 of Monroe passed away at 1:39pm, Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. His passing was preceded by his grandmother: Marcinna. To cherish his memory he leaves his wife: Sue Calderas of Monroe; parents: Juan and Maria Calderas; and grandparents: Fidencio and Paula Vega; three brothers: Joel (Krissy) Calderas of Monroe, Jose Calderas of Monroe, and Dennis (Christina) Hoskins of North Carolina; three nieces: Makayla, Gabriella, and Danella; two nephews: Jacob and Mason; his beloved dog: Nikko; and a brotherhood of firefighters at LMR. Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 7:00pm, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Members of the London-Maybee-Raisinville Fire Department will perform a walk through at 6:30pm. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 7:00pm with a "Last Call" at 7:45pm. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations are suggested to the family.
