Stanley Eugene Reece
February 7, 1933 - September 20, 2009
Stanley Reece age 76, of Monroe passed away at 10:06am, Sunday, September 20, 2009 in the ICU of Mercy Memorial Hospital.
Stanley was born on February 7, 1933 in Verne, Kentucky. He was born from the union of the late Acie Evert Reece and the late Gracie Mae (Dinkins) Reece. Stanley attended local schools and graduated from Popular High School in 1951. In 1957 Stanley moved to Monroe. He took employment with the Baker Brothers in Toledo, Ohio as a Shipping Clerk. He held this position for more than twenty years until Baker Brothers closing.
Stanley was better known as the owner and operator of Stan's Towing in Monroe. He served the community for more than twenty-five years in this capacity. Stan's Towing provided towing service as well as mechanical service for its customers. He also sold parts and tires.
Stan was affectionately referred to as "Stan the Man", but many more called him "Papaw". He will forever be remembered for his warm, charitable heart. He was the type of man who would open his home to all those in need even complete strangers. Stan even took in a few stray animals from time to time. He enjoyed watching and attending car racing. Whether it was live or re-run, Figure 8, Derby or Nascar, Stan enjoyed it just the same.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter: Patricia Ann (Ridner) Neal of Monroe; a son: Kenneth Wayne (Debbie) Reece of Bedford Township; three sisters: Audrey (Ellis) Bloodworth of Whitley City, Kentucky, Juanita (George) Hoskins of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, and Norma (Junior) Hoskins of Washburn, Tennessee; a brother: James (Joan) Reece of Beattyville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren: Randy Ridner Jr., Shelly Qassis, Angie (Steve) Yeary, Kenny McBride, Richard (Sara) Guiher, Robert Guiher, Becky Klawitter, Wesley Reece, and Kyle Reece; and twenty great grandchildren.
