Haley Corinne Penix May 11, 1998 - July 24, 2009 Haley Corinne Penix age 11 of Newport passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, 2009 in Perrysburg Township, Ohio. Haley was born on May 11, 1998 at the Riverside Hospital in Trenton, Michigan the daughter of Mark Lehmbeck and Gayle Penix. Haley as described by her family was a beautiful individual with an outgoing, curious personality. She was the type of person who had unconditional love, and loved whatever she touched. Haley was a remarkable student. She enjoyed going to school, and she was looking forward to beginning the sixth grade in the fall at Wager Middle School in Newport. Haley also participated in several extra-curricular activities including being a member of the Newport Girl Scouts where she was to become a cadet this year. She was also a member of the Science and Crochet Clubs and she was creative with writing poetry and composing short scary stories as well as drawing. Haley would list her hobbies as enjoying music; singing and dancing, and playing her Nintendo DS. She enjoyed swimming and fishing and recently had learned how to take her own fish off the hook. Haley also collected dolphins. Wherever Haley went she could be found with her twin baby dolls. Haley's memory will forever be cherished by her parents: Mama, Gayle Penix & fiancé Josh McClain of Newport; Dad, Mark Lehmbeck & Jennifer of New Boston; her brother: Ryan Lehmbeck; two sisters: Katelynn McClain and Sofie Lehmbeck; maternal grandparents: Nana and Papa: John and Linda Moomey of Newport and maternal grandfather: Umpa Younts of Cadillac; paternal grandmother: Grandma Wendy Lehmbeck of Flat Rock; maternal great grandparents: Jessie Grandma and Grandpa of Newport; Great Grandma Moomey of Toledo, Ohio; dozens of aunts and uncles including: Unki Joe, Aunt Karie, Aunt Shell, and a host of cousins and beloved friends, and last but not least her companion: a border-collie/ black lab named Ryan. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Friends may also gather from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 29 also at Merkle's. Friends are invited to come as they are and to bring a memory of Haley to share. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the wishes of the Penix family.
