Helen Grace Lindsay was born in Corbin, Kentucky on September 17, 1921. She was one of eight children born from the union of the late Hubert Lindsay and the late Margaret (Green) Lindsay. She was raised in Tennessee until her teenage years. Helen married William J. Larner in Fall River, Massachusetts and the couple settled in Monroe after World War II. Helen stayed very active in addition to raising the couple's children. Over the years she had worked various jobs. Helen had been employed for several years by the Monroe School District as a Crossing Guard. She was a member of St. Anne's Parish and the St. Anne's Women's Club, the Dixie Bells, Woodland Beach Women's Club, and Hurd Sterling Bowling Team. Helen also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, camping, and bingo. She obtained her high school diploma from Monroe Adult Education in 2002. Helen Grace Larner age 89 of Monroe passed away at 8:10am, Friday, June 17, 2011 at Medilodge of Monroe. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by husband William in 1984; a son: William; and five siblings: Viola, Bart, Bob, Joe, and Leon; and son-in-law: Curtis Kronmueller. To cherish her memory she leaves a son: Stephen (Gail) Larner of Caspian, Michigan; a daughter: Margaret Kronmueller of Fort Mill, SC;a daughter-in-law: Donna Larner of Monroe; nine grandchildren: Stephanie (Dean) Beaubien of Newport, Scott Larner of Newport, Nicole (Vito) DiCarlo of Monroe, Lisa Yoder of Waxhan, NC, Margaret, Robert, Christopher(Denise) Kronmueller all of Fort Mills, SC; Stephen Robert Larner Jr. of Santa Monica, CA, and Sean Ryan Larner of Taylor, MI; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother: Hubert Lindsay; and one sister: Laura Payne; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 where a funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 20, 2011. Father Robert Mossett of St. Anne Catholic Church will officiate. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for burial. Memorial donations are suggested to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
