He attended Monroe High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. He married the love of his life the former Madeline VanStone at St. Patrick Church on October 25, 1952. Robert was a self-employed Dairy Farmer all of his life. When Fred suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 46, Robert immediately stepped in taking over the family farm. Chub was a member of St. Charles Parish, their Cemetery Committee, and formerly of the Dad's Club. He also was a member of Farm Bureau and Michigan Milk Producers. He had an infectious smile and a keen sense of humor. He had a passion for his four-legged friends. He loved people and was a true family man.
