Obituary of Margaret Hedy
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Jane Oley was born August 1, 1923 in Lorraine, Ohio. She was the daughter of Joseph and Jennie (Jesensky) Oley Sr. Margaret married Frank Hedy on February 15, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan.
From her union with Frank she was blessed with the birth of five children: Carol (Jim) Granger of East Tawas, Michigan; Frank Hedy of Sarasota, Florida; Dale (Laurie) Hedy of Tecumseh, Michigan; Darlene (Alan) Atkinson of Waterford, Michigan; and Ronald (Gail) Hedy of Aurora, Colorado. These five children gave Margaret the joy of six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Margaret had a keen love for life. Her hobbies and interests were varied. She enjoyed dancing and traveling. One of her favorite places to visit locally was the Detroit Beach Boat Club. She also had a knack for cooking and baking. Her kitchen often permeated the aroma of fresh cuisine. She had a green thumb as well and could regularly be found in her garden. Many of her vegetables were canned for a later meal. Her tasks also included tending to her many beautiful flowers. Margaret enjoyed casting a line wherever she could for fish.
She was a devoted member of the Dundee United Methodist Church. Margaret wasn't afraid of a good days work either. For more than seventeen years Margaret was employed by Dundee Community Schools as a custodian. She took a great deal of pride in keeping the schools neat and orderly.
Over the years she shared many memories with her three brothers: Raymond Oley, Ben Oley, and Joseph (Yvonne) Oley all of Monroe; and a sister-in-law: Ethel Oley of Kentucky.
