Obituary of Richard Hammac

Richard Lee Hammac was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 16, 1973. Richard was the son of Fuson Junior "Lucky" Hammac and the late Judy (Pfluge) Hammac. He grew up in the Woodland Beach subdivision and attended Jefferson Schools before graduating from the high school in 1992. During his formative years, Rich, as his friends called him developed a passion for football, and while at Jefferson he was a member of the schools football team.
Rich always appreciated the opportunity to catch a football game on television or taking it all in at the stadium. He considered himself fortunate by continuing his playing days after high school as a member of the Southern Michigan Timberwolves in Monroe.
Rich worked for a short period of time for the Ford Motor Company at their Monroe plant before having to retire for medical reasons. He was married to the former Jeanne Timmons.
Rich was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Monroe. He had fallen away for a time but recently, he had begun attending church again and had been visiting Bethany Baptist Church with his family. Rich loved the outdoors and he enjoyed spending time with his best friends; dogs: Shiloh and Luka.
Richard Lee "Rich" Hammac age 36 passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his Monroe home. He had fought a valiant battle with diabetes since the age of 13. His passing in addition to his mother on April 1, 2009 was preceded by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather: George Pfluge.
Rich leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Mason Hammac at home and Austin Timmons of Monroe; his father: Fuson J. "Lucky" Hammac of Monroe; his maternal grandmother: Annabelle "Ann" and Shelby Carter of Monroe; two brothers: Lucky Joe (Heather) Hammac of Dundee and Ryan Lynn Hammac of Monroe; and a host of friends.
Friends may gather from 4:30pm until 7:30pm, Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:30pm with the Rev. Rex Jones pastor of Bethany Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will take place and inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
