Joyce Ann Belknap
September 22, 1934 - March 31, 2011
Joyce Ann Vincent was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 22, 1934. She was one of three children the daughter born from the union of the late Glen Vincent and the late Naomi (Harmon) Vincent. She attended Scott High School in Toledo.
She married Robert "Bob" Belknap on October 18, 1952 at the Erie Presbyterian Church. From this union came the birth of six children and Joyce became a homemaker.
She was an auxillary member of the Riverview Yacht Club and also of the Erie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3943 Ladies Auxillary. In the past she enjoyed reading and watching television. She loved to shop and especially loved to save her shopping treasures for "the good". Joyce was a homebody always placing the needs of her children first. Later in life she found the joys of grandchildren and she loved to spoil them.
Joyce Ann Belknap age 76 of Erie passed away at 7:43pm, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Toledo Hospital. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by one brother: Jerrold Vincent and one sister: Judy King.
She leaves to cherish her memory a beloved husband: Robert of Erie; six children: Vickie (Jim LaRiviere) Belknap of Toledo, Linda (Rich) Mathias of Norwalk, Robert Belknap Jr. of Erie, Mark (Nancy) Belknap of Graytown, Ohio, Star (Gilbert) Hernandez of Toledo, and Jerry (Jenifer) Belknap of Temperance; fourteen grandchildren: Ron (Helena) Kornrumpf, Michael Wheeler, Shiloe (Keith) Sheffer, Benjamin (Amy) Belknap, Sabrina Belknap Sarah Belknap, Tiffany Belknap, Tabatha Belknap, Austin Hernandez, Leann Hernandez, Gracie Hernandez, Korena Hernandez, Jessica Belknap, Jordan Belknap; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie, Michigan (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 1:00pm with the Riverview Yacht Club Ladies Auxillary providing services followed by the Pastor Steve Hobbins of Lewis Avenue Baptist Church officiating.
