Mary E. Williams was born in Sun, West Virginia on August 31, 1917. She was one of seven children the daughter of the late Edward Williams and the late Betty (Wilkerson) Williams.
Mary married Edward M. Andrews. He passed away in 1974.
Throughout the years Mary worked in many different capacities. She served as a cashier, clerk, secretary, and even a housekeeper or maid. She worked in a grocery store and at a motel the Townsite Motor Inn to be exact. One thing remained the same over these employers and that was Mary's dedication and strong work ethic.
After the death of her husband, Mary went into volunteer work. For more than thirty years she volunteered her time at the Damascus House in Monroe. Recently, had been recognized with an award for her dedication
Mary loved people. She loved to interact with them and she loved helping them. She was also extremely proud of her family. She had a passion for children, and she often could be found spoiling them with candy.
Mary E. Andrews age 93 of Monroe passed away at Fountainview of Monroe at 6:00am, Tuesday, March 15, 2011. She had been under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice.
In addition to her parents and her husband her passing was preceded by all of her siblings; brothers: Gilman, Jimmy, Calvin, and Burhl; and sisters: Florence and Pearl.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son: Edward (Patricia) Andrews of Monroe; a grandson: Chad Edward Andrews of Monroe; one nephew: Bill (Sally) Miller of Virginia; one niece: Sheila (Bill) Bloxton of Virginia; one great niece; and one great nephew.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday; March 17, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00am on Friday; March 18, 2011 also at Merkle's with the Rev. Gary Pickrell of Victory Temple officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
