Obituary of Barbara Wilson

Barbara D. Wilson, age 53, was called home at 3:29am, Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the University of Michigan Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She had been a 6 year cancer survivor. While Barbara "fought a good fight" and recently "lost the battle", due to Pulmonary Fibrosis, she is ultimately victorious, and her "reward" is Heaven! Before Barbara went to be with the Lord, she was able to share her legacy of life and love. Barbara became an organ donor. She had the most wonderful wit and an excellent sense of humor. Even through all her battles she could always share a smile and pass along a positive comment to someone else. Her attitude was an inspiration to all who had contact with her including her family. Barbara especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great nieces. She had a tremendous love of music and was so proud of her musical heritage. Barbara's mother, Georgia Bell Turner, recorded "Rising Sun Blue's" in 1937 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. The song would later become a 1960's anthem known as "The House of the Rising Sun". Barbara was a member of Monroe Plumbing's " Relay for Life" team. She felt very fortunate to have walked the 'Survivor's Lap' for 5 years. Barbara had attended Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe for many years. Barbara was born on October 31, 1954 in Monroe, Michigan to the union of the late Roy Taylor and the late Georgia (Turner) Taylor. After the passing of her father, Edward Connolly married Georgia and provided for the family as his own. Barbara married Clayton Wilson on December 4, 1976 in Monroe, Michigan. Her love for children was evident since she ran a daycare from her home for many years. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of more than thirty-one years: Clayton; three children: Dain (Elsie) Taylor, Jeremy (Andrea Munson) Wilson, and Kathryn (Robert) Clark all of Monroe; three sisters: W. Faye (Jerry) Stromberger, A. Joyce (Tim) Proskie; and Brenda (Doug) Stowell; three brothers: Reno and Ronald Taylor of Monroe and Robert (Janet) Taylor of Palm Bay, Florida; and eight grandchildren: Dain Jr., Antonio, Chance and Bryan Taylor, Jeremy Jr. and Taylor Wilson., Trent Clark and Katie Bondy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in passing by her stepfather; a son: David Wilson; three brothers: Gillis, Richard, and Roy Taylor; and a sister: Elizabeth. Friends may gather from 2-8pm, Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 1:00pm, Friday also at Merkle Funeral Service. The Rev. Ronald Schultz pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe will officiate. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services, Livonia with private burial at a later date in Woodland Cemetery, Monroe. The family suggests memorials to Relay for Life or Grace Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School.
