Obituary of Donald Webb

Donald Franklin Webb, age 72, passed away peacefully at his Carleton home on Saturday morning. He had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice for the past two weeks. He was born on January 12, 1936 in Swanee, Tennesse from the marriage of the late William "White" Webb and the late Nola Edna (Massingil) Webb. He was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School. Donald worked hard and served in many capacities for the Chrysler Corporation over a thirty year career. His last assignment before retirement in 1996 was in the Test Room. He married Constance "Connie" (Courts) Simonelli on September 25, 2001 in Toledo, Ohio. Donald was a die hard Detroit Red Wings fan. Watching his beloved team play was his favorite pastime. Guests to the Webb home knew that if the game was on idle chatter was off. Donald had a green thumb. He enjoyed planting a sprawling garden each year on his property. A great deal of quality time with Connie was spent maintaining their expanse of vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees. Donald was also an avid bowler. He played in leagues at Nortel Lanes, Monroe Sports Center, and Flat Rock Lanes. Most recently, he had played in a Wednesday afternoon Senior League. As a young man Donald spent many hours fishing and deer hunting. He leaves to cherish his memory an attentive wife: Connie of Carleton; two beloved sons: Ronald (Deanna) Webb of Monroe, Scott Webb of Pontiac; a loving daughter: Patricia (Matthew) Keefer of Monroe; and a stepson: Michael Simonelli of Carleton; a sister: Shirlene (Dennis) Curry of Monroe; two brothers: Joe Clyde Webb of Monroe and Dennis Webb of Saline; and three special grandsons: Daniel, Anthony, and Gregory Webb. His passing was preceded by his parents; a daughter: Robin K. Webb; a sister: Georgia Cramer; and a brother: Gary Webb. Family and Friends will gather from 1pm until a Celebration of His Life at 6:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185.
