Obituary of Dale Hoppert

Dale Floyd Hoppert, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at his home in Monroe Township. His loving family was at his side.
He was born on March 11, 1932 in Monroe, Michigan from the union of the late Harold Hoppert and the late Ludelle (Sieler) Hoppert. Dale was a 1950 graduate of Monroe High School. His education was continued at Michigan State University, East Lansing. While attending MSU Dale was a member of the schools ROTC program. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Dale married the love of his life, Sara DeLoche, on June 26, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe, Michigan. He was employed by the Uniroyal Tire Company now the Michelin Tire Company as a mechanical engineer, where he worked for more than 27 years before retiring in 1987.
Dale was well-known as the keeper of the remote control in his home. He was also known for his tall-tales, whether with family or friends, Dale had a story to tell. Dale enjoyed driving and he and Sara enjoyed traveling in their motor-home and setting up camp. Dale also loved to tinker. Fixing and repairing anything mechanical or electrical. He enjoyed attending his grandson, Jake's concerts. He also loved fishing and snowmobiling. Playing a game of cards and visiting the Casino were also favorite pastimes.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife: Sara; two adoring children: Sharon Hoppert of Monroe and Gerald Hoppert of Auburn Hills; a loving grandson: Jake Hoppert of Clarkston, Michigan, a sister-in-law: Colleen Kirtland of Monroe. He has many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His passing was preceded by his parents and a brother: Marvin Hoppert.
Family and Friends will gather, Friday, September 5, 2008 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Twp, (734) 384-5185. Family and Friends will also gather at 10:30am, Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Chapel Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Michigan. Pastor Sheryl Colter will officiate. Burial will take place in the cemetery. Following the committal services friends are invited to a meal Celebrating Dale's Life at the Old Mill, 242 Toledo Street, Dundee, Michigan.
