Ethel L. Gensler August 30, 1919-March 28, 2008 Ethel L. Gensler of Monroe, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday morning at the Lutheran Home. Ethel was born August 30, 1919 in Florence, Alabama from the union of the late James Tolen and the late Bertha Haygood. She married Victor Gensler on October 2, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Toledo. For thirty-three years she worked for Hi-Lite Super Market as a cashier. Ethel retired in 2002. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 1138 Women's Auxillary, and was a former Cub Scout leader. Ethel was an avid bowler for the Snow White Thunder Chicks. She enjoyed mall walking, and especially collecting matchbooks. She leaves to cherish her memories a husband of sixty-three years: Victor; a loving son: Richard and daughter-in-law: Lynne; a beloved daughter-in-law: Anne Gensler all of Monroe; a dear sister: Pearl Cheney of Riverside, California; nine adored grandchildren: Lt. Col. Scott and Sarah Gensler, Marc and Chatrina Gensler, Paul and Amber Gensler, Valerie and Dave Schaefer, Katie and Larry Russeau, Michael Gensler, Kellie and Greg Reau, Jeff and Lisa McBee, and Nicole Tuttle; and ten very special great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Linda McBee, her son: Gary Gensler, both of her parents, brothers: Osborn, Willie, Alton, and Glenard Tolen; and sisters: Mabel Pace and Lois Kilgoar. Friends may gather from 2-9pm, Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185. Friends may also gather from 10:00am until a Celebration of her Life at 11:00am, Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Scott Street. The Rev. Stanley Aubuchon and the Rev. Bruce Crabtree will co-officiate. Procession and burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. For those desiring the family has suggested memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Heartland Hospice and Homecare.
