Obituary of Lavern DuVall

Lavern Joseph DuVall December 17, 1925 - May 18, 2010 Lavern Joseph DuVall was born in Erie, Michigan on December 17, 1925. He was the son of the late Charles DuVall and the late Loretta (Lavoy) DuVall. Lavern was born at the family homestead and lived there all his life. He farmed the land his entire life. He enjoyed classis cars and John Deere tractors. Lavern liked yard work and gardening, and he also loved to read. He had a love for his family, and enjoyed get-togethers. Lavern could often be found telling stories of years past, and he always had a good joke. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie. Lavern Joseph DuVall age 84 a lifelong Erie resident passed away at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday; May 18, 2010 at 2:40pm. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by a sister Rita Albaugh; two brothers-in-law Ralph Sherwood and Larry Benore, and his uncle John DuVall who helped raise him and his siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister: Mary Sherwood of Toledo, OH, a sister: Dorothy Benore, of Erie, a brother-in-law: Carl Albaugh of Tecumseh, MI; nine nephews, six nieces, five great nieces, and three great nephews. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, May 21, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service; Bennett-Erie, 9156 Summit Street, (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 10:00am on Saturday with Brian S. Merkle officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie for burial.
