Norman "Wayne" McDaniel
January 10, 1937 - November 21, 2007
Wayne McDaniel, age 70, of Raisinville Township, died at 10:50pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at his home.
Friends may gather from 1-9pm, Friday and 11-1pm Saturday at the Merkle Funeral Home, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday at the funeral home with Jenni Discher, Director of Pastoral Care, and Lee Krahenbuhl of Mercy Health Partners officiating. Procession and burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Wayne was born in Tazewell, Tennessee to Clyde and Bobbie (Love) McDaniel on January 10, 1937. He was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1960-1962. On May 28, 1960, he married Barbara (Reno) at St. Joseph Church in Erie.
For 30 years, Wayne, worked as a Crane Operator for Ford Motor Co. He retired in 1992 from Ford Monroe. He was a member of the UAW local 723, the River Raisin Woodcarvers, and the YMCA. Wayne enjoyed playing the Guitar, had a passion for Gardening, and also enjoyed hunting especially deer. Wayne also frequented water-walking at the YMCA. He had quite a collection of figurines that he had carved.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; Daughters: Dena and Dr. Mark Snider M.D. of Monroe and Shannon and Jon Kellen of Monroe; three sisters: Lillian Jean and Eugene Keck of Monroe, Lettie Florence and Jack Umfress of South Branch, MI; and Barbara Lee Spare of Monroe; four grandchildren Jacob Wayne Kellen, Nathan Jon Kellen, Rachel Lee Kellen, and Amber Marie Snider. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; five sisters: Ruby (Pope) McDaniel, Sylvia Ann Williams, Lucy Faye Kurtz, Linda Sue Hodge, and Betty Jo McDaniel, a brother: Dean McDaniel; and one grandson: Andrew Mark Snider.
