Isaac Patrick "Ike" "Boss" Onan

Isaac Patrick "Ike" "Boss" Onan, 82, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2007 at his home.
Gathering for friends and relatives will be at the Merkle Funeral Home, 2442 N. Monroe Street, Monroe, 384-5185, on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, September 6, 2007, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Larry K. Loree, Sr. of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Ike was born on March 17, 1926, in Danville, Kentucky, the son of Eugene and Clara (Reed) Onan. He had worked in a variety of jobs, including construction laborer doing road and runway construction in the South, operating engineer in the laborer's Union, masonry work, fork lift operator and farming. He worked for Ray Boitnott in the water hauling business, then bought the business and operated Isaac Onan Water Hauling starting in 1986. He loved John Deere tractors and John Wayne movies. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of his life.
Surviving Mr. Onan are his 5 children, Cheryl Faye Sheehan of Monroe, Mary Ellen (Ken) Lindsey of Columbus, Ohio, Janet Lynn Onan of Glendale, Arizona, Chris Edward (Toni) Onan of South Rockwood, and Brian Keith (Marie Cordts) Onan of Monroe; 16 grandchildren, Sean, Colleen and Donovan Sheehan, Joshua and Amanda Lindsey, Jared, Nathaniel and Kendra Black, Adrienne and Christian Onan, Elizabeth, Scott, Eric, Samuel, Devin and Aaron Onan; and 4 great grandchildren, Isaac, Gavin, Allison and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Sam, William, and James; and a sister: Anna Mae.
