Mariann Elizabeth Peca was born on August 30, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. She was one of three children from the union of the late Robert Krauss and late Marjorie Krauss. Mariann graduated from Bishop Borgess high school with the all-girls class of 1971. She later received her certificate as a licensed beautician. Mariann supported her family by employment at various places; most recently she worked as a clerk for Salvation Army, taking retirement in 2014. She was a proud mother that dedicated her life to her children, Mitchell Stephen, Morgan Ashleigh and son-in-law Greg. Her first priority was to raise her children to know God, making sure they accepted all the sacraments in Church. Mariann was very proud to be Catholic and instilled that pride in her children as well. She was a sweet, selfless, loving, humorous, kind, and generous woman. She was simple yet optimistic; always showing her family the love and support she had within. She was a fabulous cook, as a proud Italian American woman, she put her heart and soul into her cooking and canning. She took special pride in her homemade pickles and peppers. As well as, her signature spaghetti sauce, lasagna and veal parmigiana. She was appreciative of nature, spending many hours outside. Mariann especially enjoyed going boating with her friends and family. She loved fishing, and being out on Lake Erie; Mariann instilled the art of catching perch and walleye into her children. Simply put, she lived life to the fullest capacity. Mariann Elizabeth Peca, age 62, of Taylor, passed away at 6:40 pm in her home. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded by her sister: Kathleen Brown. To cherish her memory, she leaves her treasured children: Mitchell S. of Taylor and Morgan Ashleigh (Greg Lee) Yingling of New Boston; her brother: Timothy (Sandra) Krauss; her beloved canine companion: Henry; and many dear friends. especially Lori, Vicki and Amy. A memorial mass will take place at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church,14160 Longtin Street, Southgate, MI 48195. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734) 384-5185. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the wishes of the family.
