James Oscar Alexander Jr was born on April 23, 1938 in Mooween, Pennsylvania. He was one of four children born from the union of the late James and late Evelyn (Williams) Alexander Sr. James enlisted into the United States Navy where he served his country honorably. James married the love of his life, the former Lisa (Nangano) Alexander in Alliance, Ohio. From this union came a blended family of six boys and one girl. He was a hardworking man, supporting his family first as a factory worker then as an owner/operator driving truck for many years, finally retiring in 2007. James was very mechanically inclined; he was able to fix anything from cars to electronics. He loved to cook and enjoyed fishing when he was able. Family was most important to James; his children took priority over anything else he had going. He enjoyed family get-togethers and any time spent with them. James was very happy with his life, and was very proud of his children. His faith stayed strong and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Alliance. James Oscar Alexander Jr. age 78, of Flat Rock, (formerly of Alliance, Ohio) passed away at 4:44pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife: Lisa Alexander in 1996; son: William Alexander; siblings: William Alexander, Marva Thomas, Rose Clark, and James Alexander; and a grandson Dale Cox Jr. To cherish his memory, James leaves one daughter: Estell (Dale) Cox of Flat Rock, Michigan: five sons, James P (Teresa) Alexander and Aaron (Tonya) Alexander of Alliance, Robert (Tammy) Alexander, James (Darlene) Alexander, and Earl (Sabrina) Alexander, all three of New York; sisters: Elva Jean Wood of Alliance and Marcella Jones of North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren: Estellisa Alexander, T'Era Alexander, Mason Alexander, Erin Alexander, Ella Gillespie, Emma Gillespie, Devin Newkirk, Kipper Alexander, DaWayne Alexander, Lional Alexander, Pearl Alexander, Kyle Alexander, JaQuon Cox, and two great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Cassaday - Turkle Christian Funeral Home, 75 South Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 4:00pm also at Cassaday- Turkle, with Pastor Aaron Hill officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan, (734)384-5185.
