Jennifer L. Cline
July 12, 1946 - May 8, 2016
Jennifer "Aunt Jenny" Cline, Age 69 of Monroe passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 8, 2016. Although not a biological Mom to any, she was a Mother to many. From snacks on birthdays, to treats on holidays, and to-go bags if you visited, she was always there with her hand extended, not to receive but to give.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her father Kenneth Melvin Poling, her mother Minnie Louise (Fleming) Poling and her Brother Douglas Poling. Jennifer attended Erie Mason High School graduating with the Class of 1964.
For several years Jennifer worked as a Secretary for Erie Mason Public Schools before leaving to take employment with The Law Office of Terri Hall, who was not only a boss, but a great friend. Jennifer worked in the Monroe County Clerk's Office serving as the Deputy County Clerk for seventeen years where she developed many long lasting relationships. In 2008, Jennifer was appointed to the position of County Clerk to succeed her treasured retiring friend, Geri Allen. For many years she was proud to serve as the Secretary of the Monroe County Democratic Party.
Jennifer loved the holidays. She could always be counted on to share seasonal spirit by decorating her home and office. She also enjoyed bargain shopping, crafts and sewing (and boy was she good at it), keeping a neat lawn and gardening; earning the nickname of "Martha Stewart" from her friends. Jennifer's yard was a meeting place for all Monroe critters and fury friends. She enjoyed travel, especially to Key West Florida to spend time with Paul.
She always kept a meticulous home, often times waking up as early as 4:30 am to vacuum, dust, and make coffee. Once her "chores" were done she would call her dear friend Margie to chat and discuss life. Always the early riser and creature of habit she truly enjoyed her morning routine. Jenny never missed a special occasion and when she attended, it was always thrill to see the goodies she bought. As her lifelong friend Linda said she was devoted, thoughtful, modest, and good at everything she did. She gave it her all up until the very end.
Despite battling dementia during her final years, she maintained her wit and kept everyone on their toes. Just ask her "friends" at The Grove and Parkcliffe.
Jennifer is survived by the light of her life, nephew Ryan; his wife Stacey and their children Claire and Katie, Paul Geiger, The LaPointe Family and The Cline Family, as well as a host of friends: Geri, Margie, Terri, Linda, Lyle, Patty, Martha, Josephine, Dawn, Sharon, neighbors, and all those at the Monroe County Courthouse.
Friends will gather from 4:00-6:30pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 6:30pm also at Merkle's with Reverend Jeffrey Heimsoth, Administrative Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
