Darris Jerome Stokes was born August 3, 2005 in Monroe, Michigan. He was raised by his mother Jerica Stokes and his father Darris Moore and attended Monroe Public Schools; science was his favorite subject.
Darris was a smart, loving and caring boy. He adored his brothers and sisters and cherished time spent with them. Darris had a great sense of humor and had sweet spirit about him that impacted and changed the lives of all who knew him. He had a love for animals and collecting bugs. As a football fan, he enjoyed playing for the Monroe Badgers #38 and as most boys, he loved playing with Lego's.
Darris Jerome Stokes, age 10, of Monroe passed away at 2:00pm at Promedica Toledo Children's Hospital on April 25, 2016. His passing was preceded by: his great-grandmothers Paula Gamble and Essie Stokes and his great-grandfathers David Thrash Sr. and Abron(Luvina) Monroe; his great-great grandmother: Geneva Fisher; and a host of aunts and uncles.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his mother: Jerica (Robert Walden) Stokes of Monroe; father: Darris (Nicole Riley) Moore of Flat Rock; his biological father: Darius Carter of Monroe; five sisters: Jaliyah Serrano; Skyla Moore, Amari Williams; Kemari Roby; Kali Carter; two brothers: Da'Vion Moore; Isiah Carter; one step brother: Cyrus Goins; his maternal grandmother: Jennifer Harris-Roecker of Monroe; his paternal grandmother: Robin Bulo of Ypsilanti; his paternal grandfather: James Thrash (Staci Stringer) Thrash of Monroe; and many other relatives.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan (734)241-7070. A Going Home Celebration will take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00am also at Merkle's with Pastor Allen C. Overton officiating and Pastor Angela Blunt co-officiating . Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
