Obituary of Annie Ingram
Annie Marie Vassallo was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 7, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Nicola and Louise (Tosh) Vassallo. She attended Detroit Public Schools. Annie married the love of her life, James Ingram Sr. in 1961 in Monroe. From this union would come the birth of six children.
Annie was the backbone of her family. She cared for her husband and children's needs as a homemaker. Her home was the family meeting place for many get-together's. She cherished the time that she spent with each of her children and grandchildren. She often watched scary movies and television shows which she enjoyed with Sons: James. As an avid sports fan, Annie often watched the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. Recently, she had started attending bull-riding competitions with son: Gary and daughter-in-law: Maria.
Annie was pretty well-known for her love of bingo. She frequented the Eagles in Flat Rock and St. Anne's Parish in Monroe. It is here that she created a special bond with Kathy, Carrie, Tammy, and the late Diana Cupp.
Annie Marie Ingram, age 72, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at her home under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice. She was surrounded by the love of her wonderful family. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband James Sr. in 2001, granddaughter: Samantha Ingram, grandson: Sgt. Michael "Mikie" Ingram, Jr., brother: Raymond Walls Sr.
To cherish her memory, Annie leaves her children: James Ingram, Jr., Marilyn (Jack) Taormina, Gary (Maria) Ingram; Mike (Julie) Ingram, Sr., Deanna Ingram (Nicole Fital); Devonna (Aaron) Cooper, and Patricia (Ron) Kitts; brothers: Sam (Vangi) Vassallo, Ronald (Sharon) Walls, and Ray (Barbara) Walls; sister-in-law: Darlene Walls; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Ingram family; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; her four legged companion Nicola; and special friend and caregiver: Debbie Bordeau.
Friends may gather from 2:00- 8:00pm on July 5, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 also at Merkle's with Father Louis Lapeyre of St. Mary Parish officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery for burial.
