Marilyn Grace Driggett April 12, 1929 -January 25, 2012 Marilyn Grace Allen was born in Monroe, Michigan on April 12, 1929 from the union of the late Enoch Allen and the late Hazel (Severance) Allen. She attended Carleton Elementary and was a graduate of Carleton High School. She was married to Gordon Kaye Hildreth and later married Harry Driggett. Marilyn worked more than thirty years as a Secretary. She was first employed at the Willow Run Bomber Plant for several years and later was employed by Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. She retired from the City of Monroe and its Waste Water Treatment Plant after more than twenty years of combined service. Marilyn loved to play Bingo and Bunko. She was an avid couponer, and she often gave bags of savings to her family. She was mostly a homebody who loved gardening and cardinals. Marilyn loved to cook and bake and she was well known for delicious pies; and especially for her banana cake. She was a member of the Carleton Senior Citizens. Marilyn Grace Driggett, age 82, of Carleton passed away at 8:00pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Heart and Vascular Center in Toledo. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by former spouse: Harry Driggett; her former spouse and significant other of more than eighteen years: Gordon Hildreth on April 18, 2011; a daughter: Sharlene Leona Miller on June 8, 2011; and a brother: Harold Hauf. To cherish her memory she leaves five children: Sharon (Darrell) Kaufman of Flat Rock, Susan Driggett of Newport, Scott Driggett of Carleton, Shirley (Dave) Weeden of South Haven, and Sally (Daniel) Heinzerling of Newport; one sister: Katherine Younglove of Trenton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 8:00pm, Saturday; January 28, 2012 and from 12:30pm until 1:30pm on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 1:30pm with Pastor Kenneth Spain, Associate Pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations are suggested to the Driggett Family.
