Obituary of Blanche Foor

Blanche Eva Albain was born on December 10, 1923 in Monroe, Michigan. She was the daughter of Norris Albain and Belva (Larry) Albain. She was a 1941 graduate of Monroe High School. During World War II, Blanche supported the war effort by working at the Willow Run Bomber Plant.
A lifelong Monroe resident, Blanche considered herself first and foremost a homemaker. She did spend some time working outside the home for local businesses such as Kresge's in Downtown Monroe, Alcoa Aluminum, and working as a bookkeeper for Floral City Furniture.
Blanche married Howard B. Foor on November 26, 1955 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. From this union, Blanche has three surviving sons: Harry William "Bill" Foor of Toledo, Ohio; Michael (Anne) Foor of Milan, Michigan; and Ricky J. "Rick" (Chris) Foor of Monroe, Michigan; a fourth son Gregory Foor passed away in July of 1972. She also has two stepdaughters: Donna Westrick of Perrysburg, Ohio and Bonnie Null of Britton, Michigan; a beloved brother-in-law: Leroy Neid of Monroe, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her loving husband Howard passed away on September 22, 1986.
Blanche was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxillary to the Eagles, Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138, and the Moose Lodge.
Blanche enjoyed visiting the family cottage at Wampler's Lake. Many weekend and Summer getaways were spent in the home with a beautiful lake view. She was an avid reader; especially enjoying mystery writings.
Blanche Eva Foor, age 85, of Monroe passed away at 11:00pm, Friday, April 3, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her husband and son her passing was preceded by her parents and two sisters: Donna Nied and Betty Meechan and a brother-in-law: Tom Meechan.
Friends may gather from 1:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185 and Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am. The Rev. James Jacobs Pastoral Director of Chaplaincy Services for Mercy Memorial Hospital will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial park in LaSalle for burial.
