Obituary of Deborah Smith

Deborah Kay Childers was born on November 14, 1953 in Trenton. She was one of six children born from the union of the late Bert Childers and the late Hazel (Thompson) Childers. Deborah attended Carleson High School in Gibraltar. Family was most important to Deborah and she loved them very much. She was proud to be able to stay at home and care for her six children. Christmas was Deborah's favorite time of year because she was surrounded by all her loved ones and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was baptized and was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church. Deborah was a huge fan of Disney World and all Its magic wonder. She enjoyed shopping for her favorite outfits, saving money with great bargains at garage sales and playing online bingo. In her quiet time, Deborah could be found snuggled up with her favorite blanket doing crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by a former husband: David Murphy; a daughter: Missy Carr; a grandaughter: Chasity Childers; a grandson: Jeffrey Schaffer; three sisters: Betty Taylor, Jean Leeth and Faye Thompson; two brothers-in-law: Ben Taylor and James "Buddy" Barnes; and her canine companion "Duke." To cherish her memory, Deborah leaves two former spouses: Doyle Henson and Donald Smith of thirty-seven years; four daughters: Angie (Bill Knaggs) Ajami, Wendy (Keith) Bubar, Jennifer (Joe) Pease, Heidi (Mitch Jones) Childers; a son: Kevin (Kim) Murphy; a son-in-law: Jason Carr; twenty-seven grandchildren: Jeffrey, James, Tiffany, Jason, Chris, Keith jr, Christa, Travon, Briana, Tasha, Jenna, Ontario II, Nile, Octavius, Corey, Jessica, Brandon, Ryan, Ethan,Tuesday, Danille, Brittney, Cianna, Jason jr., Jasperae, Paris,and Xavion; thirteen great-grandchildren: Chris jr, Jaxon, Ryder, Mayla, Keira, Mckinley, Jorden, Valenzia, Jackson, Serenati, Hailey, Jayden and Ellie; a sister: Kathy Barnes; a brother: Elmer "Sonny" (Sue) Childers; and a brother-in-law Harold Leeth. Friends may gather on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2:00pm until a Celebration of Her Life at 4:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe (734)241-7070, with Pastor Brian Southerland of Faith Baptist Church officiating.
