Marguerite Onieta Pitcher was born in Carlisle, Arkansas on October 16, 1921. She was one of seven children born from the union of the late Leonard and the late Elsie (Bennett) Pitcher. Margaret married Frank E. Bargeon on August 21, 1939 in Carlisle, Arkansas and from this union came the birth of three children. Margaret went on to marry Jule Wicker on January 29, 1961 in Wayne County, Michigan. Prior to Margaret moving to Monroe, she had previously resided in New Boston, Gibraltar and Alpena for a combination of twenty years. She helped support her family as a sales associate in the menswear at Sears- Roebuck for over 25 years. After retiring in 1980, Margaret spent much of her time traveling, gardening and raising peacocks. Her nickname was the Bird Lady. Margaret received her spiritual nourishment through LaSalle Presbyterian Church. She was very active in various groups and clubs, such as the VFW Auxillary #2496 and a Garden Club in Alpena; a life member of Cootie's of Alpena Hospital Unite of VFW; Nancy DeGraff Toll Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Hannibal Farrell Chapter of Daughters of the Civil War and Captain Philip R. Toll Chapter of Daughters of the War of 1812 where five generations of her family were members; she was a member of the Mayflower Society of Michigan; the Frenchtown Senior Citizens; and lastly involved in the Sawyer Homestead Society in Monroe. Marguerite Wicker, age 94, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Healthcare Center in Monroe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband: Jule Wicker in 1997; three sisters: Nellie Morin, Elsie Agnes Holmes, and Virginia Daniels; and two brothers: Henry Pitcher and Lynn Pitcher To cherish her memory, Margaret leaves two daughters: Judith O. Bargeon of Monroe, and Vicky K. Bargeon of New Boston; one son: David Bargeon of Lachine; one brother: Francis "Mike" Pitcher of Cypress, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A private memorial Service will take place at a later date.
