Obituary of Charles Cox

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Carrol Cox Jr. was born in Dearborn, Michigan on March 22, 1929. He was one of three children born from the union of the late Charles Sr. and the late Revola (Ormiston) Cox. He graduated in the class of 1947 from Woodrow High School in Detroit, and later attended two years of college, specializing in business. Charles married the love of his life, the former Rhonda L. Cadle in Sevierville, Tennessee on September 18, 1996. They proudly made their home in Monroe. Charles supported his family, through employment at the Ford World Headquarters as a stationary engineer and a mediator through retirement in 1991. Charles was an intelligent businessman, always pursuing new ventures to accomplish. After he retired, he owned and operated a beauty salon, a dry cleaning business, and of course beekeeping with Honey Haven. He also started his own company, Abbey Filter Systems, Inc. He lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for three years, and worked at the Queen's Medical Center. Upon leaving Hawaii, he drove straight through, from California to Michigan, to be with his family. Charles was always a kind and gentle man, his family and friends never seen a mean bone in his body. He was always quite active; Charles and some coworkers were fellow league bowlers in Dearborn and Monroe for many years. He loved nothing more than the time spent with his family. Charles Carrol Cox Jr, age 86 of Monroe, passed away at 5:42pm on Monday, August 24, 2015 at home. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his sister: Beverly Babnaw, an infant sister who died shortly after birth, and daughter: Cheri Urban. To cherish his memory, Charles leaves his beloved wife of eighteen years: Rhonda Cox; two children: John (Gail) Cox of Ann Arbor and Craig Cox of Wayne; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
