Harmon Eugene Davis Sr. December 16, 1942 - August 13, 2015 Harmon Eugene Davis Sr. was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 16, 1942. He was one of ten children born to the union of the late LeRoy and the late Minnie (Lamar) Davis. Harmon attended Romulus High School and after graduation served his country honorably in the United States Army. Harmon married the love of his life, the late Odelia Austin. From this union there were four children born. He supported his family working as a Relief Man at Ford Motor Company for thirty-seven years taking retirement in 2000. Harmon was known for his sense of humor, his witty personality and most importantly being a "Grand Dad." He always kept an open home for all to come and enjoy his cooking, his specialty being his love for barbeque. He was also known to be the neighborhood mechanic. Harmon was also a die hard sports fan; he enjoyed the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Pistons, as he attended sports events with his son, Damon. He also appreciated the great outdoors whether it was just sitting on his front porch, hunting, or camping with his daughter Hermalinda and her family. Harmon was very fond of his canine companions; Chloe, Cleo, Gigi and Ricky Ross. Harmon Eugene Davis Sr., age 72 of Monroe passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2015 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital with his family by his side. His passing was preceded by his parents; his beloved wife; a brother: Linzy Davis; a son: Khary Phenix Sr. on March 12, 2011; and a great grandson: Anthony Eugene Goins on August 3, 2013. To cherish his memory, Harmon leaves his beloved children: Hermalinda (Monico Adkins) Davis of Monroe, Damon Davis Sr. of Monroe, Angela (Lewis) Threatt of Detroit, Tina (Carlton) Smith of Monroe, Harmon Davis Jr. of Monroe, Derrick Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia and Angel Gaves of Akron, Ohio; four brothers: Johnny Davis, John Long, Robert Davis and Nate Davis; five sisters: Roylee Campbell, Emma Mills, Hazel Winston, Earlean Burgess, and Minnie Hicks; twenty-two grandchildren: Teagan, Cameron, Damona, Damon Jr., Dante, Tearra, Iesha, Kieran, Cyrus, Aja, Ciara, Kobe, Miles, Khary Jr., Nathaniel, Heaven, Ajara, Dathan, Telena, Tianna, Jamarion, Marquse, La'Karra, Latisha, Robert, Jacques, Jashala; many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers for the service are Robert Davis Jr., Virgil Davis, Melvin Hicks, Terrance Hicks, Terry Mills, Tori Mills, Darnell Overstreet and Michael Overstreet. Honorary Pallbearers are Deontae Canales, Monico Adkins, Otis Jackson, Cezarie Miller, Stephen Blunt Jr., Stephen Blunt Sr., Robert Hurse, Courtney Lott, Keelen Miller, and Ernest Miller. Friends may gather on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 2:00pm-8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Homegoing Celebration will take place at 11:00am on Friday, August 21 also at Merkle's with Pastor Angela Blunt officiating. Procession to Roselawn will follow.
