Janet Mae Loughman was born in Erie, Michigan on April 27, 1935. She was the one of three children born from the union of the late James C. and the late Aletha M. (Hoel) Loughman. Janet graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1953.
Janet married the love of her life Robert Nelson Pratt on May 27, 1961 at Erie United Methodist Church while Robert was home on leave from the United States Navy. Janet loved taking care of her family, being a Navy wife, and keeping up their home.
In her later years, Janet received her spiritual nourishment through Unity United Methodist Church in Northwood. She had a profound love for music, singing as a high soprano, as well as playing the organ and piano. Janet was a feisty, goodhearted woman. She enjoyed every moment she could, spending time with three generations of her grand "babies". In her free time she loved to watch sci-fi movies, going to Tupperware parties, and camping with her children.
Janet Mae Pratt, age 80, of Perrysburg passed away at 5:00pm on Friday, August 7, 2015 at ProMedica St. Lukes Hospital in Maumee. In addition to her parents: her passing was preceded by her beloved husband of fifty three years: Robert Pratt in September of2014; and a sister: Florence Ann Farner.
To cherish Janet's memory she leaves two loving sons: Edwin (Pat) Pratt of Perrysburg, Ohio and Marc (Toni) Pratt of Winchester, Kentucky; one brother: James (Nancy) Loughman of Temperance; three grandchildren: Bryan (Sabrina) Sanchez of Swanton, Robert (Anita) Fisher of Delta and Barbara Sanchez of Toledo; nine great-grandchildren: Daniel, Robert Jr., Samantha, Graydon, Anthony, Hope, Faith, Cecily, Melina; and three great great-grandchildren: Ethan, Mason and Robert.
Friends may gather on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 10:00am till a Celebration of her life at 1:30pm at Merkle Funeral Service, Erie 9156 Summit St, Erie (734)848-5185. Pastor Harold Black of Unity United Methodist Church will be officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan for burial.
