Obituary of James Eastes

James Thomas Eastes was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 17, 1943. He was the son of the late James Eastes and the late Maudie (Lemons) Eastes. James was a 1961 graduate of Monroe High School. He joined the United States Navy in 1964 and served his country honorably until 1966.
James married the love of his life Terrill Mason on June 21, 1969 in Jonesboro, Virginia. He supported his family for more than thirty years as an employee of the Chrysler Company working in skilled trades.
James was a happy person most of the time and he was known for his story telling. He especially liked to share about his Navy experiences. In his free time James enjoyed shooting pool and was an avid hunter. He was a member of the VFW and UAW. He also enjoyed using his computer.
James was an excellent husband and father always making sure that his family was taken care of, and he was sure to be there when they needed him. Later in life James experienced the joy of grandchildren and he was proud to brag about them to whoever would listen.
James Thomas Eastes age 68 of Monroe passed away at 9:00am, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his home. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by a brother: Cotton Hensley.
To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of forty-three years: Terry Eastes of Monroe; four children: Jennifer (Tim) Grady of Toledo, Beth Korth of Monroe, Robert Eastes of Monroe, and Kerrie (Paul) Manenle of Monroe; seven siblings: Carlos (Sally) Eastes of Michigan, Jackie Corpuz of Indiana, Patty Bashaw of Georgia, Barbara Godwin of Georgia, Wayne Eastes of Michigan, Diane Bomia of Michigan, and William Eastes of Michigan; nine grandchildren: Kara Lynn, Hannah, MaKayla, Morgaen, LaShelle, Justin, Sara, Courtney, and Andrew; and six great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, January 13, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am, Saturday, January 14, 2012 also at Merkle's. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for burial.
