Obituary of William Greene

William Ernest Greene was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 18, 1952. He was the one of five children born from the union of the late Ernest and Verbena (Knuth) Greene. He attended Whiteford and Bedford High School. For more than twenty years, William was able to merge his passion for cars and love for working. He was employed as a Test Driver for Chrysler, eventually retiring. He had a love for fast cars, street racing, and watching drag racing in Plymouth. As an avid outdoorsman, many days were spent hunting and fishing. William was definitely one of a kind; he was a free spirit, with a huge heart and a great sense of humor. He was a loving and loyal brother, enjoying every moment visiting or chatting on the phone with family. More than anything, William was a proud and loving grandfather to his grandchildren, cherishing it every moment. At the end of the day, William spent time with his beloved canine companion; Mr. Pete. William Ernest Greene, age 63 of Monroe, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. His passing was preceded by his parents, his father in 1976 and his mother in 1986; two sisters: Sandra Joan Porter and Darlene Schmidt; and a child: Lori Greene. To cherish his memory, William leaves five children: Nicole Greene and Melissa Greene, both of Toledo, Ohio, Allen (Jessie) Greene, Gabrielle Rieger, and Daniell Chinavare of Brethren; two brothers: Gean Schmidlin and "Gerri" Knaggs; a sister: Cynthia (Charles) "Jean" Schmidlin; and eighteen grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734)384-5185. No public services are planned at this time.
