Tyler Joseph McCormick was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 8, 1992. He was the son of Holly McCormick and Scott Grodi. Tyler attended Monroe High School where he was active in the R.O.T.C. program and graduated with the class of 2010. After graduation Tyler continued his education at Monroe County Community College. He loved being outside and over the years had developed a passion for hunting and fishing spending countless hours in the company of his father Scott and stepfather Dennis with Sterling State Park as one of his favorite spots to cast lines. Tyler enjoyed helping others and was known for his strong work ethic. He was employed as a member of the grounds crew at Roselawn Memorial Park for several years a position that he cherished. He was previously employed as a welder for Tube City. Tyler was extremely outgoing with a great sense of humor. His smile was infectious and he could always be counted on to warm the room. Tyler didn't need much just cherishing the time spent hanging out with his family and friends. Tyler enjoyed jamming to Country music while sporting his signature cowboy boots and ball cap. He had attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Tyler, age 22 of Monroe passed away at home unexpectedly on Thursday, July 16, 2015. His passing was preceded by his paternal grandfather: Dennis Grodi; maternal aunt and uncle: Gerald and Mary Knab; and his great grandparents. To cherish his memory he leaves his mother and stepfather: Holly McCormick (Dennis Fry) of Monroe; father: Scott Grodi of Erie; half-sister: Ashleigh; maternal grandparents: Linda and Charles McCormick III of Monroe; paternal grandparents: Sharon and Mike Grodi of Erie; several aunts and uncles: Charles (Jennifer) McCormick IV of Monroe, Christene Grodi of Monroe; several cousins; and extended family members. Friends may gather from 10:00am until 12:00pm, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 4615 West Albain Road. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 12:00pm with Reverend Nathan Fager of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. In lieu of flowers memorial are suggested to the McCormick Family.
