Obituary of Laverne Wilson

Laverne Helene Wilson October 17, 1948 - July 11, 2015 Laverne Helene Wilson was born in Highland Park, Michigan on October 17, 1948. She was one of three children born to the late Leo Jr. and late Stella (Rak) Kern. After graduating in 1966 from All Saints High School in Detroit, Laverne held the position of executive secretary at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Laverne became a stay at home mom raising four children and also went on to earn her nursing certificate from Wayne County Community College. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother & friend. Laverne was a very knowledgeable woman who enjoyed music, reading, gardening, soaking up the sun, cooking (which she did with perfection), and had a gift of spending countless hours having long conversations with those dear to her. Laverne Helene Wilson, age 66, of Newport passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her infant brother Baby Kern. Her cherished memory lives on through her beloved children: Tanya Wilson of Newport, Heather Wilson of Newport, Lisa Wilson of Melvindale and Ty Wilson of Newport; her three grandchildren: Taria Sims of Melvindale, Leo Kern of Woodhaven and Ebony Wilson Jr. of Melvindale; her sister: Debbie (Ross) Mayrand of Newport; 2 nieces and a nephew.
