Bruce Wade Nixon
January 4, 1954 - August 9, 2015
Bruce Wade Nixon was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on January 4, 1954. He was the one of five children born from the union of the late Clarence S. and Elinor L. (Dennis) Nixon. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte with the class of 1972.
Bruce was a truly unique individual with a genuine one-of-a-kind personality that was honest and funny. "He lived a life that was his own and experienced it to the fullest". He enjoyed quality time spent with friends and family, as family was always his first priority.
Bruce was employed as a Truck Driver for Waste Management and a member of the Teamsters Union member. After twenty- four years, he took a medical retirement in 1997. Bruce had a love for photography and was a sports enthusiast. For many years, he was a photographer for the University of Michigan hockey team.
In his spare time, he often spent hours tinkering on his own 1944 Flathead Harley Davidson motorcycle, which he built with all original parts. Bruce had a profound love for music, enjoying going to concerts, especially the ZZ top concerts with his daughter.
Bruce Wade Nixon, age 61 of Monroe, passed away at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his home, with his loving family at his side. He had been under the care of ProMedica Hospice of Monroe. His passing was preceded by his parents; and three brothers: Samuel Nixon, Philip Nixon and Curtis Nixon.
To cherish his memory, Bruce leaves a beloved daughter: Nacol (Darvin) Hicks of Northville; a half-sister: Virginia (Howard) Renfer of South Carolina; two granddaughters: Megan Hicks and Allyson Hicks both of Northville; many cousins; nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 12:00pm with Pastor B.J. McDaniel of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
