Obituary of Ronald Slater

Ronald Lee Slater was born in Toledo on October 13, 1968. He was the only son born from the union of the late Richard Stanley Slater and June Jean (Burkett) Slater Goins. He grew up in Toledo attending Waite High School. He later earned his GED.
Ronald had many challenges throughout life being involved in a serious car accident and losing his father as a young man. Although, he was tormented by many internal demons he continually found a way to push on. Ronald had a heart of gold and was extremely generous to those he placed in his inner circle.
He married the love of his life Patricia Ann Reece on June 2, 2012 in Tennessee. The couple would make their home in Monroe looking after each of their mothers and sharing space with four feline friends.
Ronald loved to draw and was a very talented artist. He used his ability as a Tattoo Artist for many years, and with his passion started several local shops including Body Art and Design first in Toledo and later in Monroe, Elysium, and finally Cold Steel. Ronald was very well known in the tattoo world by the nickname "Slowpoke".
Ronald also had a sharp mind and enjoyed reading and learning. Knowing his health would affect his ability to work in the artistic world he found a passion for computers. He had taken multiple online courses in Information Technology and had a fascination with and loved computers, studying IT and interested in PC security.
Ronald, age 46 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 3:17pm at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Through Ronald's death he gave the gift of life to others by becoming an organ and tissue donor through Community Tissue Services.
To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife: Patricia; mother: June Goins; mother-in-law: Patsy Bates; son: Justin Lee Isaac Slater; three step-children: Randy S. (Jeri) Ridner, Shelly Ridner and Mitch Cunningham, Angie (Steve) Yeary; brother: Jeffrey (Earleen) Slater; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A private celebration of his life is pending for family and close friends.
