Obituary of Jerry Salter

Jerry Allen Salter was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 17, 1942. He was the only child born from the union of the late Ivan and Mildred (Sangster) Salter. Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Bedford High School, and attended Michigan State University earning his degree in accounting.
He enlisted in the United States Army serving honorably in the reserves for six years. For eight years Jerry was employed at Arthur Young and Company in Toledo as an accountant. In 1973, he purchased the family business, Salter Oil, which his father, Ivan had begun in 1938. Jerry owned and operated the entity until his retirement in 2008.
He married the former Louise (Jennings) Schenavar on September 6, 1994 in Toledo. In his free time Jerry was an avid supporter of American veterans and he enjoyed reading materials of many interests.
Jerry age 72 a lifelong Bedford Township resident passed away at 4:15am, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of more than twenty years: Louise of Temperance and a son: James Salter.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am, Friday, May 22, 2015 also at Merkle's with Reverend David Voss pastor of Petersburg Lower Light Church officiating. Procession will follow to Bedford Memorial Gardens for burial.
