Obituary of Irma Welch

Irma Carroll Welch, 88, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday at Tender care of Monroe, where she had been a resident since 2000.
Services will be private' with the Rev. William Fischer of St.' Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Covenant Cremation and Funeral Society.
Born Feb. 28, 1918, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Clyde and Beuhlah (Cromwell) Worrick. She married George Collins. Later, she married John Welch.
During the 1940s and 1950s, she was employed by Maynahan Bronze, Flat Rock. From 1968 to 1974, she operated LA. Florist and Jewelers in Flat Rock. While living in Phoenix, she worked eight years at Surgicenter. She retired from that company in 1985 as a central supply manager.
She enjoyed the outdoors including hiking and rafting. She also enjoyed traveling and working in her yard.
Surviving are three sons, George (Thelma) Collins of Naples, Fla., and Butch (Judy) Collins and Ollie (Janet) Collins, both of Monroe;
a daughter, Shellie (Welch) Buckle of Monroe; a son-in-law, Jack Shaw of Riverview; three brothers, William (Olivia) Thomas of Troy; Mich., John (Carol) Thomas of Troy; Ohio, and Robert Thomas of Leesburg, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara (Bruce) Mitchell of Swartz Creek and Margaret Thomas of Waterford; 16 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren, and two great -great -granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; a daughter, Carroll (Collins) Shaw; a brother, Jerry Thomas; a sister-in-law, Phillis Thomas, and a grandson, John Shaw.
