Robert "Bob" Miles Hearn was born on August 7, 1962 in Monroe, Michigan. He was the second of four children born from the union of Duane L. and Karla A. (Kemritz) Hearn. Bob graduated high school from Mason Consolidated schools in the class of 1980, and then continued his education at Ferris State University.
Robert married the former Kathy (Baker) Hearn in 1984, from this union came the birth of two children. He supported his family by working for the Bechtel Corporation on the Fermi I site. In 1989, Bob moved on with his career by going to work for Ford Motor Company, there he completed a four-year apprenticeship to become a skilled tradesman until he was unable to return to work following his diagnosis.
Bob later on married the former Lori Germano on December 24, 2013 in LaSalle, Michigan. Together they shared their blended family.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt, fish, and play lots of golf. He was a longtime member of the Monroe Rod and Gun club, along with the NRA. When he wasn't working, he and his family enjoyed spending time at their property in northern Michigan. Bob enjoyed college sports, cheering on the University of Michigan.
Robert M. Hearn age 52 of LaSalle, passed away at 4:25am on Monday, March 9, 2015 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital after a long bout of cancer. His passing was preceded by his grandparents: Ray and Roberta Kemritz, Wilbur and Elda Hearn, and Robert and Lilian Bullock; uncle: R. Lee Kemritz; and niece: Kati Fox.
To cherish his memory, Bob leaves his beloved wife: Lori; two children: Robert (Amanda) Hearn Jr. of West Virginia and Brooke Hearn of LaSalle; stepchildren: Ryan Smith of Columbus and Molly Smith of LaSalle; parents: Duane and Karla Hearn of LaSalle; sisters: Robin (Dave) Fox of LaSalle, Kelli (Scott) Collingsworth of Monroe, and Mandi (Frank) Woodward of Luna Pier; sisters-in-law: Terri (Jeff) Holly of Temperance and Julie Germano of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Violet and Emery Hearn of West Virginia; eleven nieces and nephews, and two great nieces. Bob also leaves his trusted four-leg companion, "his bud" Newton.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 1:00pm with Ryan Smith officiating. Immediately following the service the family would like you to join them for a luncheon at the American Legion in Luna Pier (11045 Harold Dr., Luna Pier, MI 48157).
Robert's family would like to especially thank the Karmanos Cancer Institute; Doctor Trivedi, Amy Randall and staff, and Doctor Ricardo Compean. Also special thanks to everyone that offered prayers and support in Bob's battle. "Your battle was our battle."
