Edith Lillian Rodgers was born on July 4, 1931 in Athens, Tennessee. She was one of six children from the union of the late Herbert Thomas Rodgers and the late Ada (Carder) Rodgers. Edith married the love of her life William David Canupp in Dalton, Georgia on May 1, 1949. Together they would raise five children and share in nearly fifty-seven years of marriage before his passing on February 2, 2006. First and foremost Edith was a homemaker. She took this responsibility of child rearing very seriously. She put her hobbies to use enjoying sewing, crocheting, and reading. Her children stated that she was so good at sewing that she often did not use a pattern. Edith enjoyed taking care of the yard and mowing the grass. She also worked for several years for the Monroe Evening News delivering papers on a motor route. Edith and William had many similar likes and spent most of their free time together. One of there favorite pastimes was setting up at Flea Markets. They were frequent fixtures at markets at the corner of Pennsylvania and Middlebelt in Romulus, Flat Rock, and even Bellview, Florida. Edith Lillian Canupp age 78, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009 in Bellview, Florida. In addition to her parents and her husband her passing was preceded by a brother: Tommy Rodgers; and two sisters: Helen Davis and a sister who died at birth.
