Sarah, I’m very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I remember him well at our dance competitions and events during high school. He was a very supportive of the team, and you could tell he really loved his family. I hope you and your family can find peace during this time.

Garry was a gentle giant and a man of very few words. He was caring and compassionate and was always concerned about others. As a fellow Exchangite, Garry and I would have conversations when we fellowshipped at meetings about how he could contribute to the various local charities in which I was involved, and the "Angel City" school and orphanage that I am building in Ghana, Africa. Garry is now an angel himself. We will all miss him very much. My sincerest condolences and I will continue to keep his family in my prayers. Rest in peace, Garry.

I had the privalege of getting to know Garry through VISTAGE. His sincerity (except the many times he was joking!), knowledge, wit, and thoughtfulness were ever present. When Garry spoke, you listened because you knew you were either going to get sincere, solid advice, knowledge about something obscure and interesting, or a well-timed moment of levity! I admired how comfortable he was with himself and his principles.
My heart goes out to his family. I will miss him dearly, and I only saw him once a month. I will never forget him.

I would like to share a few of the memories I have of Garry Markle. They begin in the early 1980's in the University of Toledo rocket marching band. He stood tall and played the trumpet so well. He could hit those high notes fantastically. Once, he was moving around during practice in his squad, and the band director, Jamie Hafner, shouted into his megaphone with his great southern accent.." GARRY MARKLE, YOU'RE LIKE A CORNSTALK IN A HURRICANE!". That stuck with him for quite sometime.
Then, a few years later, in Monroe, to our shared surprise, he and Barb had joined our church! Our kids grew up together in that church sharing many events and activities. I can remember Garry helping out with the public roast beef dinners amongst many other things.
Garry later joined the community band and my son was able to play along in the same trumpet section. I was in the nerdy, woodwind clarinet section.
I'll always remember Garry as a kind, and good man. You will never be forgotten, Garry.

Garry and I are cousins and I am so thankful he and Barbara came to my Dad’s celebration of life in Decatur Illinois this summer ❤️ We had such a nice visit. Life gets so busy and out of town family is hard to stay close too but when you do get a visit it is so nice to reconnect so easily. Sending love to Garrys family as the pain of grief slowly turns into fond beautiful memories which will fill your heart with warmth, love and joy that he was in your life for the time you were given with him.
