Obituary of Irma Kaye Bashaw
Irma Kaye Poupard was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 12, 1942. She was the daughter of Rudolph Boznak and Lucille Poupard. She was educated at Zion Lutheran School and being baptized and confirmed at Zion Church. She was a 1960 graduate of Monroe High School.
Irma married the love of her life, Wayne Bashaw on August 14, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe. She loved children and for thirty-nine years owned and operated a daycare out of her home. This was in addition to raising six children that she and Wayne were blessed with. The family continued worshipping at Zion for many years where she served with the Ladies Aide. Later she attended Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Funeral Luncheon Committee.
For many years, Irma spent countless hours at the Monroe Center for Healthy Aging, while visiting her aunt Lillian who resided at Mable Kehres Apartments. Irma loved attending craft shows, always dragging her kids along, she often took an extra car to make room for all the treasures she found. Later in life she became known as the QVC Queen.
Irma loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch, watching the cars and people go by. She liked going out to eat with LaFiesta being her favorite destination and chocolate being her favorite desert. Irma filled her time with word search puzzles to challenge her mind, and the likes of Steve Harvey, Family Feud, and her daily soaps to entertain. Irma shared her home with her beloved canine companion, maltese-shitzu mix: Susie.
