Sharon Lee Vauter, age 65 of Monroe passed away at 12:40am, Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center in Monroe.
Sharon Lee Hines was born March 11, 1944 in Trenton, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Hines and the late Ruth McLaughlin. Sharon grew up in the downriver area and graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1962. After graduation she moved to the Monroe area.
Sharon enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and reading books. She also loved to crochet, sew, and bake. Her love of baking would eventually become a career. She shared her baking with customers from Bill's Union 76 Truckstop at I-75 and LaPlaisance, and then at Bill's Country Kitchen which later became became D.J.'s Kitchen at the corner of Dunbar Rd. and South Dixie Highway in Monroe Township. She shared her baking creations with customers for well over 20 years.
Sharon was extremely proud of her son and grandsons. She cherished the time she was able to spend with them.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory a son: Steve Vauter and his fiancé Sandra Leland of Monroe; two beloved grandchildren: Ian Vauter and Caleb Vauter both of Monroe; a brother: Terry (Emily) Hines of Taylor, Michigan; a sister: Denise (Larry) Overholt of Carleton, Michigan; and a brother: Loren Hines of Harrison, Michigan.
A Private gathering was held for the immediate family and close friends on Friday, August 7, 2009. Cremation then followed through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. Arrangements were entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
