Larry Albert “Joe” Cunningham was born on May 15, 1935, in Rockwood, Michigan. He was one of eleven children born to Florance Ann (Heck) and Willian Frank Cunningham. “Joe” as he became widely known, was a graduate of Trenton High School.

“Joe” was an avid sports fan.  He was passionate about his hometown teams, rooting for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan Wolverines. Joe was a devoted family man providing for the needs of his loved ones by working at the McLouth Steel Mill for thirty-five years before retirement.  He cherished time with all his offspring but was especially fond of his grandchildren.

Larry Albert “Joe” Cunningham, age 88, of Temperance, Michigan passed away at Hickory Ridge of Temperance on Thursday; December 7, 2023. His passing was preceded by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; and a granddaughter: Jade Melissa.

To cherish his memory, Joe leaves three sons: Mike (Judy) Cunningham, Scott (June) Cunningham, and Dan (Liz) Cunningham, a sister: Gail Crooks, eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

No public services are planned at this time.  His care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070.  Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
