Obituary of Joan Rose Salisbury

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joan Rose Zalewski was born on March 1, 1937, in Wyandotte, Michigan. She was one of five children born from the union of Stan and Helen (Missell) Zalewski. She attended classes at Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte.

Joan married William Salisbury in 1988, in her hometown of Wyandotte and together they had a blended family of five children. Joan was a dedicated and loving stay-at-home wife and mother.   She prioritized taking care of her family, ensuring their well-being and happiness. From managing household chores to supporting her children’s activities, she selflessly devoted her time and energy to creating a nurturing home environment.

Joan grew up in a tight-knit community, always finding a sense of peace in the arms of her faith. From a young age, she attended the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where she nourished her spiritual appetite and found guidance and inspiration.

Joan was known for her vibrant and lively spirit. In her youth, she had a deep love for dancing, gracefully gliding across the floor to the rhythms of the time. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and she carried that love for dancing throughout her life.

Above all else, family was incredibly important to Joan, and she valued every moment spent with her grandchildren. Often found babysitting, she embraced her role as a doting grandmother, nurturing and caring for her beloved little ones. She created countless cherished memories with them, and the love they shared will forever be cherished.

One of Joan's passions was her doll collection. With meticulous care, she amassed an array of dolls, each one holding a special place in her heart. These dolls served as a reflection of her gentle and tender nature, and she delighted in sharing her collection with anyone who visited her home.

As her life progressed, Joan often looked back fondly on her grandmother's home in Wyandotte. It was a place of comfort and solace, a sanctuary where precious memories were made. She cherished the time spent within those walls, and the laughter that filled the rooms.

Beyond these hobbies, Joan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She simply enjoyed spending leisurely afternoons shopping, discovering unique treasures, and indulging in her much sought-after, Avon splurge.
