Obituary of Zelda Lucas

Please share a memory of Zelda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Zelda was born on September 2, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio to the union of Walter and Cecil (Dunbar) Bialecki.  Her father married Thelma Noaker when Zelda was 2 years of age.  She graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio with the class of 1952.  Zelda was a cheerleader during her time in high school, and loved playing the piano.

She married Lawrence Lucas on June 27, 1953.  For decades, Zelda worked alongside her husband in the family business, Lucas Auto Parts and Towing, which they established in 1969. Together, they created a successful endeavor that served the community.

Zelda dedicated many years to serving on the Summerfield Township Board.  She retired from public office in 2004, after having spent several terms as the Supervisor.  Zelda tirelessly worked to make a positive impact in her community.  Her commitment to public service was unwavering, and her contributions are remembered with gratitude.

Outside of her civic responsibilities, Zelda was an avid reader who found solace within the pages of books. Her favorite authors, James Patterson, Stephen King, and Janet Yvonivich captivated her imagination and provided countless hours of enjoyment.

Baseball also held a special place in Zelda's heart, particularly the Detroit Tigers. Above anything, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy. However, Zelda's nurturing nature extended beyond her own family, as she welcomed anyone into her home with open arms. Zelda's culinary skills were unmatched, and she was renowned for her ability to cook anything with precision and love. She always ensured dinner was promptly ready at 5:00pm. Any individual in need of a meal found an open chair at Zelda's table, reflecting her generosity and warm spirit.  She enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Precious sitting on her lap watching birds at the feeder out her window.

Zelda Lucas, age 89, of Petersburg, passed away at 10:38pm on Tuesday; October 17, 2023, at her home. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband: Lawrence; and two brothers: Richard Walters and Gene Walters.
