Obituary of Joe Woods
Joe Woods was born on June 18, 1939, in Emma, Kentucky. He was the son of John W. Woods and Maxie (Goble) Woods. He graduated high school in 1957 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Joe married the love of his life the former, Dorothy Sue Meade, on December 28, 1958, in Clintwood, Virginia. Shortly after exchanging vows, Joe moved his family to Michigan in search of work. Joe made ends meet supporting his family with employment at General Motors Company. He started off on the assembly line before working himself to an office position. His career spanned thirty years before his retirement in 1992.
Joe and Dorothy were blessed with the birth of two children. They were members of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, where they regularly enjoyed worshipping. Joe had a wonderful sense of humor and a bubbly personality. He was the jokester in any group, and loved to razz people to get them going.
Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman cherishing the time he and Dorothy, his favorite companion, shared casting lines into Mill and Mud Lakes. This was in spite of the fact that she always seemed to outfish him. He loved the countless hours with best friend, Jack, while rifle hunting deer. Later in life he became a very proud Papaw to all of his grandchildren.
